Optimization of Phycobiliprotein Solubilization from a Thermotolerant Oscillatoria sp.

The present study evaluated the effect of multiple variables (drying time, drying temperature, biomass/solvent ratio, glass beads/biomass extraction and speed) in solubilization three different phycobiliproteins (C-PC, APC, PE) from a thermotolerant Oscillatoria sp. strain was grown BG11 media (28 °C, light: dark cycle 12:12 h at 100 µmol·m−2·s−1, 20 days) experiments were conducted according to two-level randomized factorial design with six center points (38 runs). Results show that are most significant all proteins, whereas ratio time significantly affect their purity. optimized conditions allow statistical increase concentration C-PC, PE extracted biomass; however, purity lower comparison expected value. latter occurs due larger longer times, which enhanced solubility other hydrophilic metabolites (proteins carbohydrates, etc.).
